Projects | Opel
Hans Diebschlag's association with the car manufacturer Opel dates back to the 1950's as he spent his childhood and adolescence in Russelsheim the home of Opel and his father worked at the Opel plant.
In the late 80's Hans began work on his Russelsheim series, firstly dealing with the city and Opel of the 50's and 60's in the 1993 exhibition "Rucksicht auf Russelsheim". Secondly dealing with the lives of the town's working families in the 'inner circle' pictures . Both inner and outer circle pictures comprising over 30 paintings were shown in the autumn 1997 exhibition Erinnerungen.
In 1999 "Apotheosis" a large oil/tempera painting (approx. 250cm x 180cm) commissioned by Adam Opel AG was unveiled in the newly built Adam Opel Haus. More recently Hans painted six watercolours focusing on the Opel GT and the American Dream to coincide with the US launch of the new Opel GT.
Over the years Opel have generously sponsored a number of exhibitions and catalogues of Hans's work.
